IT Lead

Plain Vanilla seeks IT Lead for Reykjavík Office.

We are looking for our first dedicated IT Lead for our growing company to take our internal infrastructure, and processes to the next level. We need a teammate who is passionate about helping people get the most out of technology while keeping us secure.

Your responsibilities will include:

Internal Infrastructure:
– Network maintenance and management (incl. documentation)
– Local server/service management (fileserver, dns, radius/ldap)
– Support staff with hardware problems (computers, printers, peripherals)
– Access management and documentation
– Office hardware setup and automation
– Wireless Network

Internal Security:
– All machines have/should-have full disk encryption
– Backups (We are currently using Arq)
– Centralize/manage authentication
– Maintain, enforce and document policies
– Interface with security company for site-security

We are a very Mac oriented workplace, with lots of engineers and hackers who are all very interested in automation and increasing efficiency. The ideal candidate is someone who takes pride in maintaining a high level of service to the rest of the staff, and is excited to learn new things and work with our engineers to automate for example computer setup, and find innovative new ways to make everyone’s life easier at the office: whether it’s from a brand-new open source tool like GitHub Boxen, or by writing a packet sniffer which sounds a siren via arduino + custom circuit board when someone starts torrenting.

We are an unusual workplace where things move fast, it’s not easy, but extremely fun and rewarding. Plain Vanilla is organised into several focused teams, this position would belong to our beloved “Team Mother” which consists of our office administrators and upper management. Although QuizUp runs in the cloud which is far-away, magical, and works by elven magic and dollars, we the employees of Plain Vanilla exist in the physical world and we need YOU to help us manage our local infrastructure!
