People Lead – Backend Development

The Backend Engineering Chapter Lead is a key role in Controlant Engineering. The Chapter Lead builds up the right capabilities and people and equips them with the skills, tools, and standard approaches to deliver functional excellence.
The Chapter Lead evaluates, promotes, coaches, and develops their people without traditional direct oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and support to team members.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance the competencies of team members.
• Dynamically deploy technical people based on business needs, team capacity, and growth opportunities, continually optimizing the team as changing priorities are reviewed, resources are allocated, and backlogs are refined.
• Gather metrics on the career growth of chapter team members and the effectiveness of the individual teams to maintain an optimal chapter and ensure a good work/life balance for all chapter members.
• Work closely with the Tech Leads, Architects, and other people leaders to define professional standards and work methodology and ensure strategic alignment for the work of their chapter as it fits in with the goals of the company.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, and continuous learning with a focus on the growth of their chapter members’ competencies.

• Skills Knowledge and Expertise:

• Proven leadership experience

• Substantial hands-on experience in the relevant craft, field, or function
• Experience interviewing, recruiting, and reviewing candidates
• Experience providing coaching, mentoring, effective feedback, and advocacy for developers
• Ability to create a rewarding, motivating environment to foster growth and attract and retain the best talent
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to think critically, analyze complex problems, and develop creative solutions
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related field (optional)
