What are we looking for?
Engineering Managers at Kaptio are crucial for our success. As an engineering manager you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our software development efforts. You will be responsible for leading one or more development teams, overseeing some of the technical aspects of our solutions, and ensuring that our software products meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities & Duties:
As an Engineering Manager at Kaptio you are responsible for:
- Ensuring that the team is consistently delivering working software to Kaptio standards & departmental expectations.
- Implementing and maintaining high standards of software quality by providing technical leadership and coaching to team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and release features and fixes, making sure our development teams are aligned.
- Manage the software development life cycle, from planning and prioritization to testing and release.
- Suggesting and selecting appropriate processes, tools, technologies, or external 3rd party services to enhance productivity and the user experience.
- Leading teams and individuals by:
- Defining OKRs with your team, supporting and reporting on team progress
- Encouraging and leading by example by using agile methodologies, tools, meeting rhythms and work processes
- Supporting team members’ performance and engagement by:
- Holding regular 1:1s meetings, giving feedback and guidance, and using coaching
- Ensuring that time-tracking is managed timely and effectively.
- Act as a liaison between customers, stakeholders and development teams to ensure successful project outcomes and customer satisfaction.
- Actively participate in and support the recruitment process by identifying potential candidates, conducting interviews, and contributing to the decision-making process to build and strengthen our engineering team
- Work alongside Product Managers, Product Architects and Technical Leads to shape, size and break down product roadmap items
- Work alongside other Engineering leaders, Principal Engineers and Quality teams to improve our processes and ways of working.
Ideal track-record and competence:
- Demonstrated capability in leading and developing successful development teams within cloud software development. You have extensive experience in designing and developing enterprise-grade software and automated testing.
- Highly capable of defining strategies and implementing impactful and measurable team efforts.
- Development expertise supported by an advanced Computer Science degree or related discipline. You also have advanced knowledge of software development principles.
- Innovative problem-solver; you skilfully come up with creative yet practical solutions when solving business issues.
- Strong communicator; you convey your ideas clearly and openly, both in writing and verbally and you enjoy working with a global team
- Agile and friendly customer and team collaborator; you are keen to build successful working relationships through open communication, a helpful attitude and making sure that you pull your weight within the team. You appreciate working in an Agile way.
- Trustworthy; you are reliable and take responsibility for your work. You approach your work and others in a professional manner.
- Credible and agile leader; you keep the team focused on delivering their work and fulfilling the commitments that they have made. You are continuously iterating and improving team cohesion and output.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and mentor software development teams.
- A solid track record of working with growth businesses in rapidly scaling up their development operations; you can deliver directly in a fast-paced environment whilst building teams and workflows.
