Who we are

Our story begins in 2016 where Klappir was founded by a family of four – all passionate environmentalists and data enthusiasts. Jón Ágúst and Hildur had already founded one company focused on ship energy optimization, Þorsteinn had long been focused on how to optimize data collection and Sigrún had been focused on the politics of conflicts with a special interest in climate change and its effect. They all lived in different parts of the world but decided to come together in Iceland and work on what they feel is the most important topic today – sustainability.

In recent years, carbon emissions have skyrocketed, making it more critical than ever to find a way to minimize the damage. At Klappir, we believe that the solution to this problem is transparent, real-time data, information sharing, and cooperation.
