Development Team Lead

Tern Systems is an established and trusted provider of Air Traffic Control solutions. An emerging product-led organisation, we are headquartered in Reykjavík with a satellite office in Budapest. Our product suites are attracting new customers and expanding our international presence. In recent years, we have grown to over 70 employees and serve customers across Europe, Asia and Africa.

We are looking for a motivated Development Team Lead in our Product Development division. You will work towards building strong high performing teams delivering product releases. You would be expected to lead with personal empathy and professional standards. In the role, you will help teams follow best practices and working methods with the aim of delivering value to our products. With an improvement mindset, you will also impact improvements to working methods within your teams and the department.

Responsibilities include

• Foster and empower development teams and individuals
• Supporting the team in maintaining efficiency and a positive work-life balance
• Provide coaching, training and mentoring where applicable
• Define strategy and objectives, and monitor team progress
• Conduct regular one-on-ones with team members
• Leading recruitment and enlisting for the division
• Works with the product manager to identify and plan releases
• Responsible for planning and controlling product release work
• Ensure that industry standards for the product life cycle are followed, and relevant documentation is produced and maintained
• Collaborates with product stakeholders on quality improvements
• Support the team in work delegation and in setting the priority of work items
• Guide and provide supportive leadership for the team through issues and challenges

Professional requirements

• 6 years or more of professional experience
• Prior experience in leading development teams or substantial senior experience
• Proactive, self-motivated, eager and enthusiastic to share knowledge and work with other team members
• Great communication skills
