Data Engineer – DW

Íslandsbanki is currently looking for Data Engineers for Data Warehouse team. The primary responsibility of the role is to design, develop and operate solutions related to the data flow from upstream data domains into the enterprise data warehouse and onward to data access layers for consumption into business intelligence tooling, reports and analytical insight solutions.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Participate in product development through cross team collaboration to manage the bank‘s data flows.
  • Designing software for automatic testability, recoverability from failures, built in privacy and security.
  • Development of intuitive software that meets and exceeds the needs of our internal users and customers.
  • Continuous improvements of operational software, automation, testing, monitoring, performance and overall quality.

Qualifications

  • Professional experience using ETL tooling and relational databases.
  • Experience in one or more programming languages (C#, Java etc.)
  • Experience with relational databases (Oracle preferred, MSSQL Server a plus).
  • Experience modelling and analysing data for storage, usage and presentation.
  • Experience with batch scheduling, chaining and failure design required (Dollar Universe experience a plus).
  • Working knowledge of software version control concepts and change management processes
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

Advantageous but not a requirement:

  • Experience with different Data Warehouse model structures.
  • Experience with business intelligence tooling.
  • Experience with Azure data solutions or other cloud data solutions.
  • Experience with the following: Azure DevOps CI/CD, Git, Docker, Liquibase, SAP Business Objects Data Services and/or Dollar Universe.
  • Experience working in banking or Fintech.
