The Senior Server Programmer will be a part of CCP’s Core Cluster Technology team working on our Carbon technology Framework. The team is responsible for developing CCP’s distributed cluster technology which serves as the basis for its single world, massively multiplayer universe. This technology underpins one of the worlds’ largest distributed games systems supporting Peak Concurrent User numbers in excess of 60,000 people. The role requires strong programming skills and an excellent understanding of server technologies, networking, parallel and distributed computing and real time programming.

[b]Responsibilities include:[/b]

[] Excellent programming and debugging experience, ideally in Python and C++ in a real time environment.

] Strong network programming skills, TCP/IP or similar protocols.
[] 5+ years experience with distributed systems, sensor networks or large scale hosted services.

] Experience working as part of a team with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
[] Working across teams to ensure consistency in approach with technology development, game design and operations.
[
] Understanding of scaling and performance issues in distributed/networked systems.
[] Windows Internals or Linux Kernel experience a plus.
[
] Theoretical background in distributed algorithms a plus – you understand when and why to shoot the Byzantine messenger
